This is the distribution of candidates required to clean-up campus on elections night. I would like to take this time to unfairly punish the elections bureau for a few mistakes. I have to make these public as they actually anger me to an unnecessary degree:
1) Roger-Guidon Hall is not listed. Funny thing, too; the elections bureau does not have to count ballots this year. Are they going over to RGN to clean it up themselves?
2) Danika-Brisson is scheduled for 7, and the referendum that she is supporting, ACRES, is 6. Is she supposed to do both? What about other people in the same spot?
3) Shamin Mohammed Jr. is Senator Elect for Health Sciences. He does not have to run a campaign, and is also not in the continent at the time. All I can question is... Fanshaw Student Union?
4) Most importantly, Jim Rae, Laura Rashotte, myself, and undoubtedly other candidates have NOT contributed to the greatest dendrocide in Ottawa since the construction of the canal in 1832. Why are we being forced to clean up other people`s mess? Civic duty? It being in our eligibility requirements? I will have you know that the Jamestown Massacre was not pretty, not at all.
Thanks for dropping the ball, Wassim. Thanks for dropping the ball.

ReplyDeleteWhat's going on ??!?
Dear Kyle,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your extremely well researched criticism.*
Allow me to respond.
1) Roger-Guindon will be "un-postered" by our Scrutineers (Dream Team) and "Floaters" (Team W) before they leave the building on Thursday night.
2) Regarding Danika Brisson: The list applies to candidates and volunteers. Danika is not the sole representative of the ACRES referendum. We could not have possibly excluded ACRES from "un-postering".
3) We included most (if not all) the candidates. We know there are always exceptions. Renaud-Philippe Garner did not have any posters last year and he was exempted from "un-postering", despite being on the initial list. The funny thing is, many candidates who do not actively campaign still enjoy "un-postering" as it allows them to "participate" with other candidates. Some do not, and we respect that. But we believe in "inclusiveness", not "exclusiveness". Which means, we include as many as possible, and if someone needs to opt-out, we accomodate.
4) Please review comment #3
As for dropping the ball, my apologies to the ball. I never intended on dropping it. In fact, I never even held it, as this has nothing to do with my responsibilities, nor did I communicate with any candidates about this file.
* Though this comment might sound sarcastic, and though it probably is, I will never admit to it being sarcastic. I will simply imply it, to give you the impression that I am being sarcastic, without actually coming out and saying it.
